Poetry with light

"Poetry with light" is the subtitle or tagline associated with Forever Images. In my eyes this perfectly reflects what I have in mind with my portrait photography. Fascinating portrait photography that results in artistically delightful and gorgeous photos. The fact that it’s clearly recognizable as my work, makes that I consider it to be art. Something completely different than a merely visual registration of something observable.

How I do portrait photography

To create the portrait photos we are looking for, it is necessary that I understand what you want and that I can explain how we can achieve that. We always start a shoot with an introduction. I think it's important to know who you are and that you have an idea of who I am. Here I describe this in more detail. And on this page you can find an overview of my portrait photos. The way I do portrait photography is, of course, personal even when it’s done on a professional level. If you want to find out more about me and why I love photography and what the basis is from which I work, you can find my story here.

Gorgeous Glamour Photo

Everyone has heard or used the word "glamor" at some point. And everyone has a feel for the meaning of the word. When I looked up the meaning of "glamour", that meaning came across as less stylish to me than I expected. Glamor has been described as 'pretense', 'fake mesmerizing beauty', 'enchanting charm', 'enchanting appearance', 'glitter', 'splendor', 'artificial brilliance' or 'excessive adornment'. It doesn't come across as real, honest, or authentic at first. But a 'touch' of glamor in a photo can, in my view, add something that does not have to crowd out the real thing. When applied subtly, it can give a portrait photo that little bit extra, making it even more unique. But above all, glamor goes great with fashion. They help each other to emerge more powerfully from a photo. Fashion naturally enhances the glamor content and an extra touch of glamor can beautifully bring out the fashion aspect. In my experience, the art with glamor is nuanced enough not to let it dominate, as long as you manage to get the most out of it if the message is glamour. Take a look at some of my glamour photos, do you recognize what I'm describing here?

This is a beautiful photo in color ...

I really love this portrait photo, Daphna Akkermans Amsterdam IJburg Enneus Heermabrug portrait photo color 705, in color. It has been given this description: Portrait photo sitting on railway tram | Daphna Akkermans Amsterdam IJburg Enneus Heermabrug | Portrait Photographer Michiel Borgart - Forever Images. And contains these tags: portrait photo glamour urbex color outside Daphna Akkermans Amsterdam IJburg Enneus Heermabrug 2019-06-22 FIS19062201 portrait photographer Michiel Borgart Forever Images The Hague. Color photos are in general the preferred way to go. They can be beautifully lively or a great visualization of an atmosphere. But colors can also distract from other details or 'part of the story'. Black and white photos can be a remarkable alternative in some cases. B&W photography is my passion and specialty as a professional portrait photographer. To explain this a bit further, I wrote this page to tell you more about my Black and White Photography. To support this explaination, I created this portfolio page of my B&W photos.

Photo studio Forever Images in The Hague

We can do a shoot on anywhere reasonable location. Indoors or outdoors. And of course in my photo studio. My studio is located in The Hague. Easily reachable by car (about 4 minutes from the A12 and A4) and parking right in front of the building. The Hague Central Station is a mere 6 minute walk. Here are some of my studio photos. They give you a good impression of the possibilities.

Urbex is awesome!

The word Urbex is a combination of the English words urban and exploring. It simply means exploring urban area. This is often interpreted as dilapidated buildings that are out of use or places that are not publicly or easily accessible. These places are definitely super cool and produce really great photos. But shooting on these locations is not always easy or even safe. I use a slightly broader interpretation for my shoots than this: a consciously chosen urban or industrial location for the shoot. For me, this can also be a bridge, abandoned parking lot, industrial area or specific part of a city. For me it is important that the location is an explicit part of the photos and thus contributes to a special atmosphere, impressive contrast or unique dynamics. Here are some of my urbex photos. I hope they will inspire you.
